Kickoff to the 31st edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
Thanks to TD, the Brian Setzer Orchestra live on MontrealJazzFest.TV!
Montreal, Wednesday, June 23, 2010-Organizers of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan, are pleased to announce a live video webcast on MontrealJazzFest.TV of the Grand événement d’ouverture TD presented in association with XM Satellite Radio starring the Brian Setzer Orchestra, on Friday, June 25 at 9:30 p.m., from the TD stage on the Place des Festivals. Thanks to the support of TD, the Festival is presenting the very first live concert webcast in its history. Alternatively, Festival fans can also listen to the concert again-and it promises to be memorable!-on XM Radio Satellite.
There was once Brian Setzer, the former singer/guitarist of the rockabilly trio the Stray Cats and his extraordinary Orchestra, with its Big Band jazz and wild impulses. His return to the Festival last year sent sparks flying at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier: many dared to dream of a repeat experience under the stars. It’s actually been on our minds since 1994, but this time the Festival and its organizers gave in to popular demand and are now offering this grand opening show, a much-coveted gift! The spirited Brian Setzer Orchestra will be igniting the Place des Festivals and, just like his classic, he will Rock This Town! You guessed it: get there early!
The Brian Setzer Orchestra, on my computer screen!
Fans who cannot make it to the Place des Festivals on Friday can click onto MontrealJazzFest.TV at 9:15 p.m. to watch this live webcast of the Grand événement d’ouverture TD with the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Internet viewers may have to download the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in, a quick and easy operation. Excerpts from nearly one hundred Festival concerts will subsenquently be available on MontrealJazzFest.TV. A not to be missed daily rendez-vous!
The support of Industry Canada allows the Festival to present more free outdoor events, including this unique Brian Setzer Orchestra concert, thereby increasing the city’s appeal as a tourist attraction-especially during the current economic crisis-and enhancing its international profile.
The 31st edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal will run from June 25 to July 6.
