33rd edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal

Additional Show for

James Taylor

Montreal, Thursday, February 2, 2012 - Organizers of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and evenko are happy to announce an additional presentation of the pre-opening concert of the 33rd edition presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan, An Intimate Evening with James Taylor and His Band. This new performance will take place June 28, 7:30 p.m., in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts, as part of the Événements spéciaux TD series. Tickets for this concert will go on sale tomorrow, Friday, February 3 at noon.

In 2008, the Festival and evenko collaborated to offer us a magnificent concert by James Taylor, returning to Montreal after an 11-year absence, in the Bell Centre. As the many fans who flocked to the show can confirm, it was a genuine musical event! This year, they collaborate anew to invite the famed American singer-songwriter back, just after his recent European tour, but this time in the exquisitely intimate confines of Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier-a truly rare opportunity, since his last appearance in the prestigious hall dates back to 1994… and was completely sold out. For those too young to have caught the past 40 years of popular music, it’s an opportunity to discover the masterpieces that made Taylor an icon of ’70s folk and propelled him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For devoted fans, it’s an opportunity to bask in the glow of his unique vocal timbre and his timeless greatest hits, including How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You), Carolina In My Mind, Fire and Rain and, of course, You’ve Got A Friend, and to discover what a singer of this caliber, surrounded by the finest musicians, can deliver when he reworks immortal songs by Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thornton and Junior Walker.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon

Tickets for this show go on sale Friday, February 3, at noon and will be available from the Place des Arts box office (175 Ste. Catherine St. W.), from, 514 842‑2112 or 1 866 842‑2112.
