The New York disco sensation in a Grand événement at the Festival

Tuesday Night Fever with Escort!

Montreal, Thursday, May 24, 2012 - Escort Fever takes over the Place des Festivals! In keeping with a longstanding tradition of presenting a special mid-Festival event starring an exciting new discovery, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal is proud to introduce the city to THE sensation of the hour on the super-hip Brooklyn scene in the Grand free outdoor event on Tuesday, July 3! “New York City’s best live band” according to Time Out New York, Escort grooves in to get 100,000 Festival booties shaking with their supremely contemporary disco sound. After burning up dancefloors in New York, the critically-acclaimed group renowned for its onstage energy, authentic sound and fiery stage show heads into the Festival to bring the P-A-R-T-Y to the TD Stage on the Place des Festivals, starting at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday Night Fever with Escort, a concert-event in this 33rd edition of Festival, presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan!

Escort is a favourite of André Ménard, cofounder and artistic director of the Festival, who recognized their immense potential during a show in a jam-packed club in Camden, London’s hottest ‘hood. Taking us back to the heart of the ’70s disco era and its codes, the band draws inspiration from major disco figures like Donna Summer. Onstage, the human element of this band prevails over machinery, preserving the organic authenticity of a genre that made history. Preceded by a media buzz that could not have been more favourable-including a Top 25 ranking in Rolling Stone Magazine-the Brooklyn troupe rolls in to get the Festival dancing to tunes inspired by both the disco heyday and contemporary rhythms of today. A booming 17-piece party-machine powerhouse, firing up the stage with incredible energy, Escort promises a high-voltage musical mirrorball of a concert that will leave everyone happily weak-kneed!
