Guitar fans: the gates to 6-string 7th heaven open tomorrow!

Montreal, Thursday, June 28, 2012 - Tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., the 6th edition of the Montreal Guitar Show presented by SiriusXM as part of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, opens its doors in the Hyatt Regency Montréal! Until July 1, guitar aficionados can enjoy a plethora of concerts, workshops and conferences, meeting and exchanging thoughts with 160 exhibitors and even buying the instrument of their dreams from among some 500 guitars exhibited and available for sale!

A myriad of concerts

Over the course of 3 days, the MGS will present over 80 concerts as part of its rich program assembling amateurs, musicians, luthiers and specialists. An array of veteran guitarists will offer MGS fans some sixty mini-concerts free of charge, introducing them to the sounds and vast potential offered by masterworks created by the world’s greatest luthiers. The Guitare Guitare series, presented by the Hyatt Regency Montréal in the Salon Inspiration, will present yet more unforgettable concerts by renowned guitarists-free for all! Finally, come on down for the renowned concerts of the Guitarissimo SiriusXM series, with Philip Catherine, Pierre Bensusan, Larry Coryell, Matt Schofield, Kelly Joe Phelps and a guitar duel between Steve Hill and Paul Deslauriers shaking the stage of the Cinquième Salle in Place des Arts twice every evening, three evenings straight (tickets on sale at 175 Ste. Catherine St. W., at 514-842-2112 or at laplacedesarts.com).

On the menu: workshops, conferences and pure guitar pleasure!

It’s an absolute meet-and-greet oasis for fans of the six-string and the professionals who handle them: the MGS also presents six workshops concocted by the guitarists of the Guitarissimo SiriusXM series, as well as fascinating conferences hosted by major luthiers and specialists on the subject. Visitors can enhance their understanding and knowledge on subjects as varied as tone and sound quality, adjustable nuts, Canadian woods used by luthiers, and the new “Blue Whale” series. There is literally something for every taste!
