Vernissage with Marcel Barbeau in the Galerie Lounge TD
Welcoming the general public tonight at 7 p.m.
Montréal, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and the Galerie Lounge TD of the Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan proudly present Mouvements, rythmes et accords, a monographic exhibition by Marcel Barbeau, from October 25 to December 23, 2012. A vernissage, in the company of the artist, kicks things off tonight at 5 p.m. for journalists and guests, with the public at large welcomed from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Marcel Barbeau is one of the pillars of modern art in Canada, holding a special place among the pioneers of abstract expressionism. A founding member of the Groupe des Automatistes, he studied under Paul-Émile Borduas, shared a studio with Jean-Paul Riopelle, and signed the Refus global manifest in 1948. In Mouvements, rythmes et accords, he presents us with an exclusive collection of 30 of his most recent works, resulting in a vividly colourful portrait of the intimate relationship between the artist and the language of music and choreography.
Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday to Saturday: 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday: 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hours extended until 9 p.m. during concert evenings in L’Astral
