Solo in Club Soda
makes his grand Montreal return!
Montreal, Monday, November 19, 2012 - The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal is happy to announce the Montreal return of electric guitar ace Steve Hill in Club Soda, December 8, at 8 p.m., as part of the Jazz All-Year Round series presented by TD. A guitar hero with a never-ending series of virtuoso fretboard exploits, Steve Hill ranks among the most impressive live performers in the province. After blowing away blues fans at the Festival this summer with his impressive solo performance, he’s back in better form than ever for a rockin’ return engagement in Club Soda! Tickets for this concert are already on sale.
Known for his passionate stage performances, Steve Hill is a bona fide Festival darling who shared the stage with legendary bluesmen Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan in 1999.
Once described as the best blues guitarist in North America by Real Blues magazine, he hits Montreal with a solidly geared-up show, first presented to an ecstatic crowd at the Loto-Québec Stage during the last Festival.
Showcasing his vocal and six-string skills all the while keeping time on a variety of percussion instruments, Hill brings us material from the excellent album Solo Recordings - Vol. 1, released in 2012 (ranked in the Top 50 on U.S. blues radio charts and in the Top 10 in Quebec sales).
Recorded live in the studio, the album finds the musician returning to the real blues after a foray into rock. Hill unleashes the raw energy of the golden age of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker on the album, and perfectly transposes all that wattage to the stage. Get ready to be blown away again…
