New this year: an audition prep day!
4th annual free Blues Camp:
Time to register for the auditions!
Montreal, Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - It’s time to register for the auditions for the 4th annual very popular Blues Camp, presented by TD Canada Trust! From now until April 23, all aspiring young Quebec musicians ages 13 to 17 are eligible to register for the auditions to see if they can join the lucky crew who will participate in an extraordinary week-long free music camp! Presented as part of the Montreal Musical Instrument Show (SIMM) and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, this day camp will once again give some 50 teenagers a unique opportunity to indulge their passion with help and guidance from music pros. To register, simply log on to campdeblues.com, before 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009. The auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at École Marguerite‑De Lajemmerais in Montreal. And those who’d like to warm up beforehand can attend the audition prep day on Sunday, April 5!
A prep day on Sunday, April 5, to boost your confidence
This year, the Blues Camp, in collaboration with the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, the Centre Segal and the Faculty of Music of the Université de Montréal, has launched a free prep day featuring group classes and a show, for those who’d like a few extra tools to prepare for their audition. It will take place on Sunday, April 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Centre Segal. Registration is compulsory at campdeblues.com before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2009. This prep day was created to give young musicians a helping hand, but is by no means compulsory. Those who are unable to attend can follow the recommendations given on the same site (see the “How to prepare” section), where they will find all they need to know on how best to prepare and practice.
How to participate
Simply register before 5 p.m. on April 23, 2009 on the Blues Camp website at campdeblues.com. Fifty (50) lucky young people will be selected at the auditions.
