Auditions for the 4th edition of the Blues Camp

Only a few days left to sign up for a chance to take part in the 2009 Blues Camp!

Montreal, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - For teens who love music, Thursday, April 23 is a date to remember, as it marks the deadline to register for the 4th edition of the famous Blues Camp presented by TD Canada Trust. Hurry and act now, as there are just two days left, and young people aged 13 to 17 will be lining up to be among the 50 lucky musicians who’ll enjoy a dream week of music at the heart of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Presented by the SIMM and the Festival, this totally free day camp allows young blues enthusiasts to learn more about music and to hone their technical skills. It also lets them take part in a concert on one of the Festival’s outdoor stages. By registering at campdeblues.com before Thursday, April 23 at 5 p.m., and by participating in the auditions, young musicians will have a chance to be part in the Blues Camp and to live a dream. The auditions alone are an opportunity to benefit from a truly musical experience before a public audience-the public is invited to discover and encourage these talented young musicians-and a jury. Auditions take place on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at école Marguerite‑De Lajemmerais, in Montreal.

A 100%-free music day camp!-In tune with SIMM’s mission of promoting music making, the Blues Camp presented by TD Canada Trust offers some 50 young people a unique lifetime opportunity to live their musical passion for seven straight days and learn the ropes, all with the help of professionals from the world of music who will accompany them at the final show on the TD Canada Trust stage before a live audience, at the wind-up to the 30th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal! It would be pretty hard to find something more likely to thrill young music fans!

How to participate?-Simply register before 5 p.m. on April 23, 2009 on the Blues Camp website at campdeblues.com. Fifty (50) lucky young people will be selected at the auditions. The Blues Camp, scheduled for July 6 to 12, will be held again this year at the CÉGEP du Vieux Montréal right near the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal site.
