3rd edition of the Montreal Guitar Show
Six strings on the move!
Montreal, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 - There’s a flurry of action at this year’s Montreal Guitar Show, on every level! After announcing the creation of an entirely new section devoted to the electric guitar for its 3rd edition, the extremely popular event expands its playing field by moving to the Palais des congrès de Montréal! This user-friendly space offers much more room, and it’s less than 450 meters from the Festival site! Add in an incredible array of activities, new shows… and the same passion that has made the MGS the destination for top-flight guitar! Fire up your musical imagination this July 3 to 5 and find the guitar of your dreams!
Enchantment everywhere… for everyone!
The Montreal Guitar Show’s mission is to assemble the most impressive array of luthiers from around the world in one space. And it’s “mission accomplished” once again, now that guitar fiends can admire, try out and even purchase the crème de la crème produced by luthiers from Quebec and Canada, the United States, France, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, England, Finland and Australia. Hundreds of instruments of every kind-acoustic, resonator and resophonic, electric, archtop, chambered, bass, gypsy, metal and nylon stringed, classical, bouzouki, mandolin, baritone, ukulele, flamenco, Weissenborn, Maccafferi, banjo, romantic, oud, lute, Saz, harp guitar, Hawaiian…-await the most fanatic guitarists, the most avid collectors, and the newest devotees of the six-string religion!
The general audience will welcome the return of a full slate of free concerts, and a wide range of guitar-related activities including conferences hosted by professionals in their areas of expertise. And don’t forget our renowned array of guitar summits in the Guitarissimo series, presented in the Cinquième Salle in Place des Arts, featuring Monte Montgomery, Peppino D’Agostino, Russell Malone, Sylvain Provost, Frank Vignola, Olivier Langevin, Don Alder, Muriel Anderson, Valérie Duchâteau and Stanley Jordan, as well as the Guitare Guitare series, in Salon Jeanne-Mance at the Hyatt Regency Montréal, with a list of performers to come later.
Welcome to Electric Avenue!
Worshipped by many, loved by all! Starting this year, the electric guitar joins the party when the MGS reserves a room-and a full program of activities-including the participation of dozens of electric guitar luthiers and small manufacturers of high-level accessories including amplifiers, effects and pedals.
A guitar Palais
The Montreal Guitar Show moves its activities to the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Located within easy reach of the site of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (447 metres away!), it offers both luthiers and fans a larger area, with all rooms and activities located on the same floor.
Now more than ever, the MGS is a Mecca for guitar fans! Don’t miss the 3rd edition of the Montreal Guitar Show, from July 3 to 5, in the Palais des congrès de Montréal! For all the info on this ultimate guitar experience, visit montrealguitarshow.com.
