4th Montreal Guitar Grand Prix

Grand finale and free concerts on Sunday, starting at 8 p.m. at L’Astral

Montreal, Thursday, September 17, 2009 - A regular at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, where he participated this summer for the third time as a songwriter, composer and performer, Montrealer Jordan Officer will now be appearing as a guest artist at the 4th edition of the Montreal Guitar Grand Prix. The musician, whom we already know for his stellar guitar work accompanying Susie Arioli, will be rocking the floorboards at L’Astral, the new performance hall in the Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan, on Sunday, September 27, for the event’s grand finale. He will be treating the public to a foretaste of the pieces featured on his debut, soon-to-be-released solo album. A free concert where the guitar will be centre-stage!

Guitarists wishing to test their mettle in the 4th Montreal Guitar Grand Prix, presented by Godin Guitars in collaboration with Steve’s Music Store, have only seven days left to register for the preliminary auditions, to be held before an audience and by catetory - classical, acoustic (fingerstyle, fingerpicking and flatpicking), jazz (archtop or gypsy) and blues/rock - on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27 -at the Savoy du Métropolis.

The grand finale, for the first time at L’Astral

The 12 most outstanding candidates in the first round, including three in each category, will make it through to the final auditions, to be held this year on Sunday, September 27, starting at 8 p.m. at L’Astral. Not only will participants benefit from an incredible on-stage experience, but they stand a chance of walking away with several thousands of dollars in prizes, courtesy of Godin Guitars and Steve’s Music Store, the official suppliers of the 4th Montreal Guitar Grand Prix, Marshall and Hartke amplifiers, DigiTech guitar effects, and Samson audio components, as well as the Montreal Guitar Show and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
