Montreal, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 — The snow has barely melted, but here’s a bouquet of summer wonder as we unveil the indoor program of the 28th edition of Les FrancoFolies de Montréal presented by Bell in collaboration with Ford of Canada! From refreshing new discoveries to incredible return engagements and tailor-made creations in rock, folk, chanson, hip-hop… and above all, in French, here’s an inkling of the best music on the francophone scene, at home and abroad! From June 9 to 18, join us in celebration of the beauty and passion of music en français!

Legends open and close the festival

Gainsbourg symphonique. With the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under the direction of Simon Leclerc. Arthur H and the OSM perform Histoire de Melody Nelson. Jane Birkin and the OSM present the best of Gainsbourg — June 10 and 11, 8 p.m., Maison symphoniqueMarking the 25th anniversary of the death of Serge Gainsbourg, Les FrancoFolies proudly present Gainsbourg symphonique, with the lovely voice of Jane Birkin–muse and companion of the late, lamented French singer-songwriter–accompanied by the brilliant Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, conducted by the incomparable Simon Leclerc, a man with a peerless reputation in symphonic pop! The evening opens with Arthur H, also accompanied by the OSM, performing the Gainsbourg masterpiece Histoire de Melody Nelson in its entirety. A historic concert event.

Diane Dufresne, Intemporelle, un temps pour elle June 18, 8 p.m., Maison symphonique The finest songs by the flamboyant Diane Dufresne, revisited in original fashion by the artists she has inspired. It’s a grand merci and tribute to the most free-spirited and daring Québécoise chanteuse. A gift for the artist’s 70th birthday. A gift for a new generation.

6th edition of Les Rendez-vous Pros des Francos

Les Rendez-vous Pros welcomes over 150 professionals (programmers, agents, managers, Québec and foreign media…) for an entire week of performances by up-and-coming talents, cocktails for accredited professionals and workshops on topics relevant to the music industry.
