Montreal, Monday, May 8, 2017 — This autumn, the singer-pianist who conquered the planet writes a new chapter in her love affair with her Montreal audience. As part of the Jazz All-Year Round series presented by TD, the exquisite Diana Krall heads into Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts on November 29 at 8 p.m. with her most recent album, Turn Up The Quiet, just released on Verve Records/Universal Music Canada. Tickets for this concert go on sale Friday, May 12 at noon, although Spectra Newsletter subscribers will have access to an exclusive pre-sale on Thursday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A world-class jazz singer, winner of 5 Grammys and 8 Junos, with 9 albums certified gold, 3 certified platinum and 7 certified multi-platinum, Diana Krall visits Montreal this autumn to present her latest winner, Turn Up The Quiet, showered with praise from the moment of its release.
Produced by the late Tommy LiPuma, who also produced her celebrated releases All For You, The Look Of Love and Live In Paris, the album revisits the American jazz vocal repertoire (Cole Porter, John Mercer…) with finesse and sensitivity: it’s the work of an artist at the peak of her artistic powers, one her devoted audience will be thrilled to discover.
Without a doubt, this concert will mark a new highlight in the relationship between the great singer and her audience. Certainly, both Montreal and, especially, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal have played a primary role in the rise and evolution of Diana Krall’s career—she is, of course, on of the 24 Legends of our event, displayed in the windows of the Maison du Festival. In fact, the Festival has been front and center for every major moment of her career, taking an active role in her evolution, from the shy performer of her debut to the assured, mature artist we recognize today: from her very first concert here in 1995—a lightning career lift-off!—,her three magnificent solo concerts in Théâtre Maisonneuve in 2011, the Centre Bell show for our 25th anniversary, and above all, the magisterial huge free outdoor concert of 2014.

For a 16th consecutive year, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, a non-profit organization, pursues its mission to showcase and develop jazz and its related music genres, by reinvesting any eventual surplus revenue in presenting the special concerts of its Jazz All-Year Round series. With the support of public partners – more specifically, the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) and the Canadian Heritage ministry—the Festival can offer the Montreal public and visitors the possibility of enjoying the rhythm of jazz throughout the year. The Festival also highlights the support of the Maison du Festival, the official host of the Jazz All-Year Round series, as well as that of Bell and the Hyatt Regency Montréal, official partner and hotel of the series, respectively.
