This prestigious recital will take place in the Gesù theatre on Sunday, February 25 at 7 p.m., part of the 19th edition of the festival presented in collaboration with Bell, from February 22 to March 4, 2018. All profits will be donated to the Maison d’Haïti to help finance activities of the Byenvini à Montréal project, launched last September.

David Bontemps

First and foremost, Alain Lefèvre offered his talents free of charge for this exceptional evening in an extraordinarily intimate venue because the cause of immigrant/refugee children awaiting official status is especially close to his heart. However, he also wants to introduce us to the talents of young Montréal pianist David Bontemps, whom he has already showcased on his program Dans les carnets d’Alain Lefèvre, broadcast on ICI Musique. The two musicians will present some of their preferred compositions, alternating with favourite pieces from the classical repertoire.

All profits generated by the evening will help finance the activities of the Byenvini à Montréal (Bien grandir à Montréal) project, which aims to facilitate the sociocultural integration of the latest wave of Haitian asylum seekers. Spinoffs generated by the evening will help children aged 6-17 to experience fun, artistic, educational and athletic activities, including cultural outings and homework assistance offered by volunteer instructors.

Launched by educator Elourdes Pierre, winner of the 2015 Reconnaissance award from UQAM, and the 2003 YMCA Peace Medal for a similar project, Byenvini à Montréal was created in partnership with the Maison d’Haïti, UQAM and TD Bank Group.
