Ólafur Arnalds — February 9, 2019, 8 p.m., Église Saint Jean-Baptiste de Montréal — After dazzling the Maison symphonique audience with his performance this past June, the Icelandic multi-instrumentalist returns to thrill yet another rapt crowd in Montréal’s majestic Église Saint Jean-Baptiste. The artist will present his 4th solo album re:member, released in August and composed on his “stratus” piano, an instrument specially modified by the musician, allowing him to produce unique sounds. The composer describes this latest opus as “an album that soars beyond the beaten path, incorporating raw, unfiltered influences.” Weaving dreamlike melodies and melancholy poetry, the music of Ólafur Arnalds invites listeners to plunge their senses into a sweet, spellbinding torpor. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
