Snoop Dogg heads to the Festival

Another special guest for our 35th!

Montréal, Monday, May 5, 2014 — One thing is certain: we’ll have more than our share of prestigious guests to help celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan! And now Festival organizers announce yet another major name in a co-presentation with evenko: legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, performing July 4 at 11 p.m. in Métropolis! Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon.

The Doggfather at the Festival? Wow, what a coup! It’s a first Festival appearance for the king of West Coast rap, who’s been dropping salty, salacious rhymes for over 20 years. With 12 studio albums to his credit, including the stellar Doggystyle that made him a star, the Dogg recently renamed himself Snoop Lion and shifted from hip-hop towards reggae. Witness his latest album, Reincarnated, produced by Diplo and laced with excellent dub, dancehall and electronica-hip-hop grooves. Is this the end of rap for Snoop? We can’t be certain, because while you can take the boy out of Gangsta, you can’t take the Gangsta out of the boy. Respect!
