Deltron 3030 free concert on the Place des Festivals

The Rio Tinto Alcan Special Closing Event

Montréal, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 — The 35th Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan, will reach its climax on July 6 with an electroshock of an evening starring supergroup Deltron 3030, assembling the incredible talents of Dan The Automator, Del The Funkee Homosapien and our very own local hero Kid Koala, at 9:30 p.m. on the TD Stage in the Rio Tinto Alcan Special Closing Event (Les Performances TD series). And because these guys do things BIG, the master-trio will be accompanied by a massive band to propel their visionary, hip-hop 100,000 leagues beyond all known musical boundaries!

Rarely has a supergroup so fully lived up to its promise as this one! In 2000, Dan The Automator, Del The Funkee Homosapien and Kid Koala seriously shook up the musical landscape with their debut album, Deltron 3030, now ranked among the most important releases in the history of underground hip-hop. After smoking the Métropolis two years ago, Deltron 3030 take over the Place des Festivals for THE party of this 35th edition, with a 2nd album, Event II, of hip-hop as groovy as it is futuristic, danceable as it is trippy, 13 years after their initial masterstroke… and they’ll be surrounded by a huge band with strings, horns, backing vocals, drums, bass and guitar! Get ready for lift-off and a rocket ride to an irresistible, mind-blowing hip-hop universe!

The entire free outdoor program of concerts and activities of the 35th edition of the Festival will be unveiled on June 3.

The 35th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal will be held from Thursday, June 26 to Sunday, July 6, 2014.
